Pack 232 Conquers Amicalola Falls

Over 60 pack members including scouts and their families enjoyed the great weather and beautiful scenery of Amicalola Falls this Saturday. It was a motivated group. We had to wake before dawn to join the caravan at the Scout Hut parking lot. From there we drove 60 miles north to meet at the base lodge. The older scouts hiked up from the bottom, the younger scouts drove to the top and hiked half way down and back up again. We all met at the top for a great barbeque and games of tug of war and capture the flag. We finished up the day performing jokes and skits in the amphitheatre and then spit up for a visit to Burt's Pumpkin Patch at the base of the mountain.

Check out our photos from this trip on the photos page.

Scouts Have a Great Time at Bert Adams

It was like heaven for little boys. Pack 232 along with hundreds of scouts from packs all over Georgia converged on the Bert Adams Scout Reservation to learn and play over the October 20th weekend. Some of us stayed Friday night, some stayed Saturday night and some stayed both nights. All of us had a great time. Scouts and dads (and one mom!) worked together to set up their tents, start a camp fire, cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, tell stories, perform skits, and participate in the activities managed by Bert Adams volunteers. Many electives were earned while having fun shooting BB guns, making Native American style hacky sacks, playing tug of war, sack races, baloon stomp, and enjoying Saturday night's bonfire. Several boys from our pack even performed a skit in front of all of the packs.

Check out our photos from this trip on the photos page.

Scouting's High Purpose
"The only sound basis on which to build is the spirit of love and goodwill among people, in the place of mutual jealousies and mistrust. This can only be secured by bringing up the next generation in a changed outlook. This would sound like a Utopian dream were it not for the scouting movement which has shown that it should not be impossible."
--Lord Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the scouting movement
